I've learnt to make up a poem to remember the Present Tenses. Though not entirely grammatically correct, it is useful and goes like this:
Present Simple is meant
For YOU or I
To GO or DO.
With COMMENTS and STORIES
HEADLINES and DIRECTION,
FACT or HABIT,
Simply now will DOES
Present NOW and Continuoiu ACTION
I of the Lord.
He IS, and AM, and ARE, and will BE
The Eternal Be-ING of the World
Present Perfect links Past to Present
With a HAVE and a verb and EDd
And a HAS and verb and ENn.
FOR it's been like this through tumult
A new present will be the RESULT.
Soon the Past will be GONE.
Auxiliary verbs have had their say
Ever SINCE time began on a Monday.
