Of all the units thus far, this is probably one of the most important units for an aspiring teacher. I found the part about teaching methods using the ESA particularly useful, finding out when to use the straight arrow, boomerang or patchwork approach and how to go about engaging, studying and activating the students.
There was also a wide array of ideas provided for each stage, like using games to engage students, word search to help them in the study phase, and role-play in the activation phase. The unit has shown that teaching a lesson need not be all about a teacher droning on about grammar and vocabulary, and instead, how a lesson can be engaging and lively.
Apart from the ESA, it was intriguing to find out all the different types of approaches to teaching, like the grammar-translation approach, and which ones are better suited to beginners or advanced learners.
