This unit gives an introduction to English grammar, its parts of speech, and their functions. A sentence spoken or written in English will usually consist of the subject-verb-object pattern and other parts of speech including definite and indefinite articles, adjectives, adverbs, prepositions, conjunctions, and others. What I have learned from this unit is that for some parts of speech, such as the past and present tenses of verbs, there are few hard and steadfast rules, although there are a few commonly used patterns.
