Unit 1 was about what qualities it takes to be a good teacher, as well as those of a good learner. It also broke down learners into different age groups and what qualities and experiences to expect from each one. Furthermore, the unit discussed the various levels of L2 learners. I learned that in order to be a good teacher, one must be engaging; knowledgeable; fair; and patient, among other qualities. Teachers must also take on a variety of roles within the classroom, whether it be manager; participant; assessor; or model.
