This unit covered parts of speech. Grammar and parts of speech is, without a doubt, the area I feel most insecure about when it comes to my tefl certification. As someone who learned English as a second language myself, I understand how daunting these rules can be! I have read and studied many classical works of literature and just "know"" the rules but find it increasingly difficult to explain ""why"" a specific grammatical rule exists. This unit really helped me organize patterns in my own thinking that will hopefully help be better explain structures and meanings to my students. I liked the way each of the parts of speech were broken down using specific examples highlighting each rule and that I wasn't bombarded with information
