Covering intonation, phonetics, and stress on words are all important for a student learning english. Teachers should explain that intonation can change the meaning of a sentence, sometimes even if it is one word. The standard stressing of certain parts of a word should be covered based on what Type of work is being taught. The teacher will be a model for the phonetics part of the course, and should explain the physical placement of the tongue and throat muscles. All three of these can be covered in one lesson or can be spread throughout many lessons as the students are learning vocabulary or grammar.
