This unit covers the techniques of teaching pronunciation and phonology. These are one of the most important yet often overlooked aspects of the english language teaching. The unit looks at how the use of intonation and stress emphasizes speech as well as the techniques and activities that can help the learners gain confidence while speaking the language. In this unit, the concepts of pronunciation and phonology are defined and explained in detail. The concepts of intonation, stress and lack of stress are looked into and how they affect the meanings of certain sentences and how the emphasis of certain words in a sentence affects the meaning and message of that sentence. Further, this lesson introduces the teacher to the phonemic alphabet, articulation, manner and place of articulation as well as the teaching techniques for the pronunciation of individual words and the most important question of when to teach pronunciation are discussed in detail. In summation, it can be rightly understood that although these are possibly the most overlooked concepts while teaching the English language, it is right to understand that it is one of the important aspects of the practical usage of the English language. And understanding the rules set out in this lesson makes the pronunciation of words while speaking more accurate and thus increases the confidence of the learners.", This was very challenging and I cannot see teaching phonology and phonetics. Owing to its complexity it is a multi-layered element of language teaching. This includes intonation
