This unit explains how to teach a new language and its focus is on vocabulary, grammar and functions. Teaching vocabulary is very important at an early stage, because that is when students are at their most motivated. I have learned that when teaching a new language, students need to be exposed to it, understand its meaning and how it is constructed and be able to practice and produce results from what they have learned. Therefore when teaching, a teacher needs to introduce a new language in a balanced and manageable way while keep in mind the most appropriate structure to deliver a lesson depending on the level at which the students are at.It was interesting to find out that selecting vocabulary words can be quite challenging for a teacher, but thankfully there are course books to Guide them. It’s quite handy and useful to have a list of “what students need to know about vocabulary items†and ideas of how to engage them in usage to make sure that they are getting a full understanding of a word or words.
