This unit outlined what makes a good teacher and what makes a good learner. It emphasized the importance of the learner's confidence and motivation. It explained the importance of the teacher's encouragement and guidance in building and/or maintaining the student's confidence and motivation. A good teacher should be encouraging to the student. A good teacher should Foster the students' working to learn the language themselves, so that students will be confident in their ability to learn and speak a language. The unit also stressed that a good teacher should know when to play what role in the classroom so that students will feel most involved and engaged.
