This unit gives a brief overview of the kinds of dynamics you can expect to see in a classroom environment. Understanding your students age level and competency level will help you customize your lesson plans in ways that engage them where they are and help to bring them to the next level. Its important to also recognize your own skill sets and strengths and weaknesses and use those to decide which age group or experience level you would be most comfortable teaching, especially as each comes with its own set of challenges and rewards.
Learning the different 'types' of teaching is also important as it's part of the teachers toolbox. You can pull out a different tool for different situations, but you never want to work with just one tool at all times. You need a variety of options to switch between as the job requires.
