There are many theories on the teaching of English as a second-language. The main form taught in this course is ESA: Engage, Study, Activate. Engage is to interest the students in the lesson so that they are ready to absorb new information. Study allows time for them to review the new content and for the teacher to highlight and correct errors; although, it is important to distinguish errors from mistakes and to give the student, and then the class, the opportunity to correct it themselves. Activate is a chance for the class to make use of the new language/rules. While this format is effective it is important to mix it up a little so that it does not become predictable and bore the students.
