This unit covered phonology and went into depth with intonation, stress, the phonemic alphabet and symbols, articulation, and of course teaching techniques for all these things. I feel that I have learned a ton as much of this was new to me and will take some time to digest. The phonemic symbols in particular seem like they could prove rather useful.This lesson was helpful in teaching me the differences between authentic materials and personally created materials. I learned the benefits of exposing students to authentic materials, as well as that of making my own materials. I also learned the advantages and disadvantages of using a published work book in the classroom as opposed to these options.
