I often make the mistake of neglecting to spend enough time during the lesson on pronunciation. Probably this is also because I'm not a native speaker myself and there is an element of accent in my English. :-(. However, spending more time on pronunciation is something that can built up the confidence of the students and encourage them to speak.Most pronunciation, as a result, tends to concentrate on individual sounds, which although the most obvious, is not necessary.Knowing how to pronounce correctly, is not the indicator of good teaching it. You should also understand how the sound makes directly and explain it, even using mouth diagrams. Phonology is also important for ESL teacher.
