I have a good knowledage from this unit. It's gives me a great knowledage. I have learnt about how to become a good teacher. I would say that it's not every teacher has all a good teacher's personality or good charactor. This unit helps me to think and have a good look at myself. I can say that i have some charactors of a good teacher,but not all of them. The knowledage from this unit helps me to be aware and to learn how to become a good teacher. An other tihing is I have learnt about the levels of learners. This is very helpful. This unit includes content on both attributes a good teacher and good student will possess. It also discuss the range of ages of students and generalizes what each age range should be capable of. I feel the most important aspect of this unit was to learn how to be a good teacher. There are many attributes that I will change in order to the best teacher I can be. As for the good learners part, it was helpful to see what qualities make for a good learner, but I think it is important to be an analyzing and adaptable teacher, depending on the students themselves.

This unit provided an overview of the various roles of both teachers and students, their relationships, and their characteristic interactions. It set guidelines for what makes a good teacher and a good learner, and defined the advantages and disadvantages inherent with each Type of learner (age, motivation, familiarity with the language, nervousness, etc.). I enjoyed reading about younger learners, as all of my teaching experience has a been concentrated at the university level. They need to learn more contextually, through games and activities, while adults tend to compare English to their native language,in order to develop a framework for understanding the new grammatical concepts.

Unit one is a basic overview of the roles of the teacher and the learner in an EFL class. This chapter describes characteristics of a good teacher, the various roles the teacher may assume within the class, and describes the key factors in being a "good"" teacher. Furthermore I have learnt about the importance of the student-teacher relationship. In addition to the diverse role I will have to play as a teacher in relation to my students, I have also now considered the importance of gagging the students, their motivations, and personal/cultural situation. I have learned the general levels of language understanding of students, as well as the major roles that teachers assume during class. The roles are adaptable depending on the students needs, and abilities. I have also realized that many of the characteristics of a good teacher either coincide, or are identical to the characteristics of a good student.

I think from this section I learned a lot about the various and distinct roles that a teacher attempts to perform and how much they must cater to the different types of students and situations. I believe I have a better idea of what it takes to become a teacher as it made me reflect on the past teachers I had and how I was as a leaner, particularly for the languages classes I have taken. I found this unit to be interesting because it was an introduction not only to the course, but to the methodology behind the course. I feel that I knew why I wanted to teach English, but after reading through the chapters, my reasons were crystallized for me. I know now that I want to teach English to introduce people to this wonderful, mixed-up language that I love called English. It was of particular interest having the different teacher roles broken down as they were. The idea of teaching a class can be overwhelming, but when it's made obvious that there is so much to do in the brief span of time during which one has one's students, suddenly, it seems as if there isn't enough time! I just hope that I can inspire and motive my students to love English as much as I do with these new found tools.

Teachers play different roles in a classroom, they are often role as the manager, accessor, and prompter, faciliator, tutor, model and participant. Teacher must love to teach,be patient,fair and must know their subject they are teaching, these qualities are what makes a good teacher. This unit also goes in to details what makes a good student, such as able to accept corrections, be able to experiment the language and be willing to learn. Students' ages,nervousness,learning experiences would differ. For example, for young learners they would be difficult to motivate due to their attention spans are short and for them the choice of learning was based on their parents. For the adults, they are genuinely want to learn however their nervousness would be high due to they dont' want to lose face. Overall, this information in this chapter was overwelming but very helpful. I feel it was appropriate to learn what makes a good student and teacher because it will help me focus that I am there for the student not for myself.

This unit I thought did a good job of providing basic examples in several different areas from what it takes to make a good teacher to what it takes to make a good learner. The unit also covered the six basic plateaus student will be at when learning a new language and included the european equivalent of this model which I thought was a good idea. The different roles a teacher will assume depending on the lesson student and other circumstances was also a helpful Guide in my opinion.The differences shown between adult and young learners as well as the different stages for the young learners was presented and what motivates people to learn a new language was discussed as well. Teaching should be student centered. There are a variety of students and being an effective teacher means adapting to the students to ensure that they are able to learn the knowledge they either need or desire, in order to succeed. I found this lesson very beneficial! I did not realize that a teacher had so many roles in a classroom. It was interesting to find that although the "manager/controller"" aspect of teaching is very important I have learnt the different roles that a teacher can be and as a teacher and I have to apply these roles in special activities during the teaching process. In other hand the description of the language level of the learners this will help me to classify in the future the groups of students according to their knowledge.

The topic which struck me as most important in the unit was the part that motivation plays for both teacher and student, as being motivated to learn the language is the key to successful learning. This section taught me about teachers and learners. It was a great start into the course. I was unsure of how to gauge levels, but now I have a better understanding. In this unit I learnt that each students learn at a different pace and it's the teacher jobs to help motivate the students and to help them stay interested in class. I think this lesson was a good start for the course. The basics were settled what it was very helpful as education is not as obvious as it seems. This unit discussed the roles of teachers and learners in a classroom and the characteristics possessed by good teachers and good learners, touching on everything from content knowledge to motivation, inspiration, rapport, and good relationships between the two parties. The unit also discussed the different roles a teacher can take on during different parts of a lesson, and pointed out that good teachers perform different roles at different times - none should be fully dominant. The lesson pointed out some of the differences between adult and young learners and laid out the different levels of English learners (from Beginner to Advanced) with summaries for each level to help participants of this course identify students at each level. I think I took away from this lesson the importance of good rapport and the ability to motivate students in a teacher, as well as a more concrete understanding of the different roles a teacher often takes on during the course of a class. I also appreciated the connection drawn between good teachers having good students.

I thought the Unit was useful because it provides great insight on how different aged students perceive English and how a teacher should be able to be flexible in teaching different aged students. Furthermore, the unit taught me how important motivation is, if the students are not motivated they will more likely struggle to grasp key concepts. Finally, I enjoyed learning about how younger students tend to be less nervous than adults. I now know to take this into consideration.

After I finished my work on this unit I realised how important is to know our students (age, learning experience, motivation, etc.) After knowing your student's past and experiences you are able to decide how is her/his real English level. After I have studied this unit, for me the most important thing is to make the difference between situations (like in which case which role is the adequate one...) and knowing that caring about my teaching is important, but the most important is to care more about the learning of the students. I am reminded that to be an effective EFL teacher, I must remember to encourage them to learn the subject matter. Teachers also have different roles to play when carrying out a lesson or activities in the classroom. The roles can vary from a manager role where the teacher must have control over the class to an observer where the teacher steps back and watches the students learn on their own. I also learned the difference between the age levels from an adult to a young learner. Each age group having there challenges but having different benefits as well. It taught me how to motivate my students properly and also informed me of what motivates each set of age groups, so that I can customize the lesson plan accordingly. I feel that by learning the differences between the age groups along with the knowledge of being a good teacher and what a good learner is, I can start becoming more aware of how I would like to teach my students in the future.

I found this lesson to be very eye opening not realizing that teaching is not just giving a lecture and giving tests. This section covered the differences in words used to build a sentence. From a very basic one using just a noun and verb, to one using adjectives to describe the nouns and adverbs to qualify the verbs, enriching the way a person would speak. This section was a great overview, there are parts of speech that were immediately familiar and some I Haven't heard of in a long time. I was most interested in the transitive/intransitive verb and how much it impacts the structure of a sentence. I particularly found superlative and comparitive adjectives fascinating, the differences are interesting as a concept as well as a good way to engage the class. I find reflexive/relative clauses a little challenging and hope to explore more of them later on.

Describes the complexities of the parts of speech especially areas I was unfamiliar with such as gerunds. Helps explain more specific points of each area that I sometimes take for granted having grown up with the language. I now understand some of the difficulties my prior students would have dealt with in attempting to understand the various facets related to parts of speech. The unit summarizes the basic grammar used in sentence structure. Each part of speech help create such a sentence. There were thorough explanations covered about nouns, verbs, pronouns, gerunds, infinitive, superlatives vs. comparative, adjectives, adverbs, conjunctions, and prepositions. For nouns, there are common, proper, compound, and collective Types. The difference between countable and uncountable nouns were discussed, as well as the rules for plural spelling. For verbs, the difference between action vs. state, auxiliary type of verbs, and the tenses. The spelling for verb continuous spelling form was discussed and the important different between transitive and intransitive. Pronouns can take the place of a noun are the types are personal, reflexive, relative, and possessive. Next, conjunctions take the role of linking words together. Gerunds are verbs that are treated like nouns, infinitive verbs are used as a base form and putting the word "to"" in front of it. Superla

I see this unit as an update and insight to a more knowledge of part of speech: growing up as a young student I was taught that in English language,there are eight parts of speech but Haven study this unite I was able to discover more two. in other words, we now have ten parts of speech which are gerund and model.

This unit focused on the parts of speech and provided a basic understand of the components which make up English grammar. Items covered included verbs, articles, nouns, adjectives, comparatives, superlatives, tenses, prepositions, conjunctions and the location of subjects and objects. Within each of these categories there are usually a number of classifications which can be made to further specify the nature of a word.

In this section I was able to gain a better understanding of the grammar that is used in everyday English, and have a greater grasp of how simple grammatical errors can greatly confuse a reader or a listener. By following the rules set out in this lesson I feel that I will be able to teach my students the "rules"" that apply to the English language

Jack A. Roberts Unit Reflection - Unit 2 I needed the reminder of the rules that attain to gerunds, a gerund is the ?ing form of a verb used as a noun (as opposed to the present participle which is the ?ing form as a verb structure). A gerund is used in the same way as a noun, i.e. as a subject or an object. . This unit was a review, however, I did not know to much about articles. There are two types of articles in English: definite (the) and indefinite (a and an). The use of these articles mainly depends on whether you are referring to any member of a group, or to a specific member of a group. I enjoyed this unit.
