This unit was about teachers and learners. It described what qualities make a good teacher and a good learner. Good teachers should love teaching, be kind and patient, motivate students, be enertaining and have an excellent knowledge of the material they are teaching. Good students should listen well, accept correction, experiment with the language and understand their learning process.
It also talked about the different levels of learners. The levels are beginners, primary, pre-intermediate, intermediate, upper intermediate and advanced. I learned about the different characteristics of each level.

In reflection on unit 1, i feel that i have learnt the essential basics that make up both effective teaching and comprehensive learning. These basics are vital to a teacher at both a beginner and an experienced level as they help to endorse the best learning environment for both
young learners and adult students. By creating a constructive, open and cooperative classroom dynamic, students are more able to grasp onto what is being taught and, just as importantly, the significance of why they are learning. By maintaining a focus on the ideals that formulate a good teacher, it is also that much more likely that a good learner will be there to reciprocate as a result. To this end, i have learnt much from this unit in its supportive approach to ethical and positive teaching paradigms, and believe it to be a solid foundation for learning further the intricacies of teaching English as a foreign language.

This lesson provides a brief overview of the teacher's various classroom roles, as well as an introduction to the types/levels of students. One of my main takeaways from this lesson was in taking on my various classroom roles, I need to give students passion for English as a language of culture and international exchange. On a practical level, I found the division of different language levels to be particularly useful because it gives me as sense of the typical progression of language learning. For example, the notion that the intermediate level is where many bad habits are crystallized resonates with my own language learning experience.

The biggest lesson I learned in this unit is that a teacher has the responsibility to play many roles in their classroom. There is a time and a place to be controlling and to stand in the front of the classroom. At the same time, a teacher should be able to step back and either participate or allow their students time to process the material and to try it on their own or with their classmates. A good teacher who can fulfill all of these roles and balance them delicately will most likely have more successful, motivated students.

This unit summarized the role of a teacher in the classroom and the relationship between the students. It also introduced a set of criteria used to classify language level learners and highlighted some of their motivations and weaknesses.
The role of a teacher in general is to facilitate learning and inspire self motivation in students. To do this common traits of a good teacher include fairness, mastery of subject and can inspire students to learn or seek answers of their own. This can be accomplished by proper classroom management which includes the roles of (Manager, Organizer, Assessor, Prompter, Participant, Tutor, Resource or Facilitator, Model, Observer, Monitor).
This unit also reflects on the learner and their intensives. For young age groups (2-7) their attention span is generally short and their primary language acquisition my not be complete. This age group is most susceptible to games, crafts and songs. A lack of experience means they are open to mistakes. The next age group (8-13) are more receptive to new words and sounds of a foreign language. They base their learning off friends and can be self absorbed. This age group is not concerned with making mistakes. Next is the (14-18) age group. This group is more challenging to reach due to lack of motivation or fear of making mistakes. This age group can draw upon many experiences their native language to make comparisons. Last is the (Adult) age group. This group is usually highly motivated due to it being their choice to attend/learn. They can draw upon many life experiences and may have already a high proficiency in a foreign language.

This unit taught me about what makes a good teacher and the many different roles teachers fulfill and how each one is successful. I also learned what makes a good learner, the types of learners (adult and younger learners), the different levels of learning from basic to advanced and what each level entails. I also learned the different affects of learners including age, motivation, behaviour problems, learning experiences and how adult learners and younger learners are affected. This unit taught me what differentiates a good teacher and a careless teacher, a teacher must care for the learning as much as the teaching and should be able to motivate and build rapports with the students. To sum up, the unit taught me the roles of the teacher and the types or learners and their influences.

What I have learned through this lesson is that a student's age, culture, experience, language level, and motivation for English can lead to very different results in their learning progress. The content of Unit 1 covered the types of Teachers and Learners that exist. The section broke down and explained elements of the teaching and learning realms. I have learnt the components into what makes a good teacher, for example patience, kindness, subject knowledge, organization and preparation. I believe an inspired, creative and prepared teacher makes for un inspired classroom, therefore increasing the potential to motivate and inspire the students.
I have also learnt that their is a wide range of learning types that a teacher may encounter. Beginning with age,(
children to adults ) to motivation and cultural background. This section has helped me understand that there are many things that can help or challenge the learning process. It has also showed me the importance of being open minded. Open minded and understanding to individual needs as well as the class as a group. It taught me that a teacher needs to be able to identify weaknesses and strengths and encourage and support accordingly. I think that when a teacher is engaged, understanding and in control of a classroom it gives feedback that will help the teacher create inspired and accurate class projects and activities to increase learning potential.

Overall, I believe that I have learnt that there are many things to take into consideration when preparing a lesson and whilst teaching in general. One must consider the students in terms of experience, motivation, behaviour, and age. One must also consider teaching dynamics depending on the principal role that the teacher must play during each part of the lesson. This is very helpful course through ITTT I learned a lot and a lot was a good refresher I really feel I learned more through this chapter then I did in High school I honestly didn't think there were so many more meanings for all the different parts of speech. For example I didn't know all the different forms of verbs, I've always just known about Verbs and Adverbs never all the different forms and how they make up a sentence like auxiliary verbs, Intransitive verbs, Transitive verbs or even infinitives. Before reading the unit but appreciated the detailed explanations of many of the parts of speech especially the preposition groupings, pronouns, conjunctions, etc.
Some of the rules/ideas presented were surprising given that as a native English speaker, I follow them every day, e.g. how we don't add -er or -est to adjectives with more than two syllables and when we use the definite article and when we don't. These kinds of clarifications gave me ideas for how I could explain things to English students and how I could help them make sense of things.

Chapter 2 served as a great review of basic English grammar points that we, as native speakers tend to forget. I feel I am now able to answer and explain simple grammar questions with confidence. Knowing the basic grammar terms and rules of your own language can also aid me in learning a foreign language. This unit was a good reflection and summary of sentence forming. I found the classroom activity ideas of how to facilitate learning of the different word classes very helpful. The inclusion of some examples of exceptions within each class of words was nice, giving a good reminder that their are many exceptions to the english language. I have definitely expanded what I thought to be a good knowledge base of the parts of speech of the English language. I really enjoyed this section and the slight challenge it offered. I will definitely be studying this more in depth so that I can effectively teach my future students.

From this unit I learned a great great deal about grammar. Of course, most of of the points were just review of what I previously learned in in grade school. Very important and helpful unit, taking us through the various part of speech, the proper grammar, word placement and correct use. Each of the eight various parts of speech described and explained in a very thorough manner. This unit can be definitely be used as a guideline to teachers during class, as they can build upon it great exercises and activities. Going through the unit has helped me a great deal to remember the whys and hows of the language i speak every day.

Unit 2 is about grammar. The section outlines the rules governing the composition of clauses, words, and phrases in the English language. The unit taught me a class of nouns previously unknown to me. For example, I was not aware that superlative nouns are distinct from other noun forms. The mention of games to make grammar fun to students, such as the Adverb Game, is a neat trick to get otherwise apathetic students participate in group activities involving grammar.

I learnt from this Unit and agree ?Grammar is an area of English that strikes fear, into the harts of both students and teachers.?
English grammar uses words based on eight parts of speech: the verb, the noun, the pronoun, the adjective, the adverb, the preposition, the conjunction, and the interjection. Each part of speech explains not what the word is, but how the word is used.
So Parts of speech is important, no teacher is expected to be a walking grammar reference book and know absolutely everything, but if you do not know anything, you are likely to lose the confidence of your students.
