I felt the content of this lesson is a great introduction to the course. I feel that addressing the many attributes a teacher requires and introducing the many roles of a teacher is a great way to allow potential teachers to understand the many hats of teacher and how and when to use these hats in order to get the most out of each learner. I have now learnt they key learning differences between learners of different ages. This was useful and classes will need to be tailored to reflect the engagements levels and learning capabilities of each group. Although I have had teaching experience in australian colleges and schools in the past I was not informed of the european framework on an international base for learner levels I found this interesting and informative. Understanding the motivations of a learner was another key point. Only when we understand why student wish to learn can we know how to motivate and truly inspire them. Overall this was a informative in-terms of outlining what to expect in the future units. It was easy enough for one not to get discouraged with the materials and self-study. P.S. I can't imagine where The Common european Framework would ever come in handy. g taught to me these are the three most important things for a teacher to have mastered. The focus of Unit One was to establish what makes a teacher an effective teacher, and what makes a student a successful student. It also discussed the levels of language proficiency, and the differences between adult learners versus young learners.

I think that some of it was pretty self-explanatory after being in the classroom for the last year, but it's nice to read and gives me memories of classes I taught. It was a good overview of the need to learn how to develop and command a good relationship between the teacher and the students. This relationship is just as important as the teaching itself.

I found this unit to be basic, but necessary in defining what clear roles a teacher can play while carrying out a lesson plan. By having this knowledge, I am now aware of my actions in class and how I might need to modify my approach depending on the task presented. Furthermore, the material provided useful information on designating various differences between students. Specifically, the relationship between the age of the learner and his or her background and level of personal motivation interested me greatly. These differences can demand that a teacher modifies his or her approach to the classroom in order to account for these general attitudes and schema. Overall, the unit reinforced what I have already learned, but provided more to the point descriptions regarding teachers and learners.

This unit provided information about different teacher roles, types of learners and language levels. I felt that all of these parts were beneficial. It is important to understand our student's language levels in order to best serve their needs. Learning the different teacher roles was helpful to understand how to best serve the students. It was also good to learn about what motivates different types of students. I have only taught middle school and high school aged children. It was helpful to see why certain ages were motivated and learn how to motivate other ages. Overall, this course was very helpful in understanding the levels and types of students I may encounter. The brief overview of roles will help me to realize what roles I am using and which I should implement more in the classroom.

Being aware of one's methods of teaching, and especially mixture of different methods is an important fator when entering a classroom. one of the most important factors i believe is being culturaly sensitive as well as understanding your students individually. To be a good teacher is a very complicated task, i believe, but it can be very rewarding at the same time.

I find grammar challenging. This lesson was very good for me; I learned a lot. Breaking down the English language and describing its structure and parts is intriguing. Finding a simple way to teach the exceptions to the rules will be a challenge. I think if the student hears the English language spoken properly it will help him or her to become familiar with the rules. This unit reviewed the grammar rules regarding basic parts of English speech and highlighted the difficulties that non-native speakers might have when learning them. Fortunately, I already felt comfortable with these rules. Hopefully, this refresher course will allow me to fine-tune and think cognitively, instead of intuitively, about the nuances of English grammar rules and their exceptions, also to be more aware of just how many rules and exceptions those learning English must consider.

I read the unit support work many times Before being confident of completing the test. I have found it somewhat difficult to get to grips with this unit. I will have to study and remember this unit. I'm hoping that as the course continues my knowledge base will improve and I will feel more confident with the units. As someone that speaks English as their first and only language it was very interesting to work through the different parts of speech when it comes to grammar. The use of terminology was fairly clear and the examples were a big help, it's rather clear in defining the difference between adjectives, articles, nouns, verbs and gerund. Different words belong to different parts of speach according to what their role is in the sentence. Even within parts of speach, there are different categories. For example, articles are small yet serve an important function in connecting other parts of the sentence. Articles can be definite or indefinite depending on how specific they are.

I've learned that for as long as I've been using the English language, I hadn't always been able to correctly label the various parts of speech that go into sentence structure. I've learned that stringing adjectives together isn't a matter of word cadence, it's a matter of the order sounding correct based on size-age-color-material-noun. I feel that this may be one of the most valuable chapters in the course because although it's an explanation of the basics, it offers a solid structural foundation that I can use as a reference from time to time.

Even more importantly this unit explained the break down of the parts of speech themselves. For example, definite (the) vs. indefinite (an, a) articles and possessive (Mine) vs. personal (he) pronouns. As a native English speaker I rarely think about the grammar rules I use and it's great that I now have a better understanding of the specific functions of words.
