It was a good start to have information about good teachers and good learners in the first unit. As I read and absorb the characteristics of good teachers, I assess myself if I acquire any of those qualities. I want to keep staying in positive through the process of learning and becoming a good teacher. This unit provided a insight into how to approach a class and provided details on how best to engage with your student, to portray what you are trying to teach. This unit provided ideas and approaches of how to engage with your students. It help to highlight different techniques to portray the content of your lesson and different situation to use these techniques.

Learned about the levels of language knowledge and found it interesting all the types of teaches you can be. I think I will be good at giving positive feedback and listening to my students. I am also good at prompting students to follow up with their answers. I need to remember to gain the respect of my students. The unit gave a good overview of the do's and don'ts of classroom behaviour for teachers and students. It also provided a good framework to measure student skill levels during evaluation time. The Unit also highlighted some tips to keep students motivated and resources on how to teach english with the list of books recommended. This unit talks about what makes good teachers/learners, the roles of the teachers, and the different factors that affect the quality of the learners. The relationship between the teacher and the learners are extremely important. To be a good teacher, always remember to care more about the learners than the learning itself.

I feel that I have reviewed some important points that illustrate the key differences that are likely to occur in various students. I learned about the different roles that a teacher should take on for a variety of situations. I also learned about what makes an effective teacher, a good learner, and the different characteristics of various age groups, language levels, and cultures and how it affects their learning. I learned what good teachers should do and should not do. I also learned different roles as a teacher. I thought being a teacher is standing up in front of the students and lecturing. From today's session, I learned that there is more to it. I also thought it was helpful for me to learn levels of each student.

This unit helped me to appreciate what it takes to be a good teacher, a good teacher needs to be caring of their students as well as focused on their abilities and there learning needs, although the ability to teach as well as the methods used and the material taught is very important the most important aspect of teaching is ensuring that your students are comfortable with what their learning and are able to benefit from the lesson. The various roles a teacher must assume at differing levels and points of a lesson was very interesting, it showed me that the traditional (as I understand it) perspective of controlling is only one role that should be used and there are more suitable roles for varying situations such as participating with the students so as to encourage a more lively and entertaining lesson thus improving motivation. Finally understanding what a good learner is seems unimportant however after studying the section I found that it is important as a teacher must be able to identify learning problems in students and use their knowledge to motivate these students so as to improve their learning ability. By encouraging shy nervous students to speak out a teacher can assist these students in the learning process. Understanding a students background is also important because it reflects on their learning style and experience. The different levels of learning were straight forward and easy to understand, it makes a lot of sense that adult learners will behave better than teenage learners, any teacher should take the age of the learners into consideration as it will affect how the teach and what methods to use.

It is useful to know that there are many roles a teacher can play in the classroom because it adds a lot of depth to my understanding of what a truly successful teacher is. Knowing when to switch between Manager and Observer or Participant and Tutor is important in order to maximize the effectiveness of our resources; focusing too much on one role or neglecting either of them completely might impact negatively in the way our students perceive us, and, as we?ve learned from this unit, motivating our students should be more important than the successful delivery of information.
Knowing the sub-categories of non-adult learners helped me identify my own strengths and weaknesses in the classroom: don?t play too many games with older

I learned about how to teach. What things a teacher should and should not do, about the differences between adult and child learners, and about the different language levels a student may have already acquired. This lesson provided a brief introduction into the different roles a good teacher plays, as well as the different scales for assessing English proficiency. I especially found the explanation of what makes a good student invaluable. Lastly, I really liked the discussion of what a "good teacher"" is." In this unit I learned the qualities of a good teacher and a good student go hand in hand. One cannot
work without the other. It is also important that the teacher know the skill level of the student so that they could help them appropriately.

I have experience in teaching English to non-native speakers already, and I can say the section concerning the learners' 'Language Level' is the same system used by many of our textbooks. The books range in difficulty from 'Beginner' to 'Advanced,' and the criteria by which we determine the learners' level is more or less the same as in the material here.
I find the theoretical bits of more interest to me personally. The section about the Common
european Framework was interesting, in that it was a piece of trivia I had not known
Before. I am always excited to learn new things, and while the sections on grammar and the nuts and bolts of the English language will not be particularly useful for me (though I am not so old as to assume I am incapable of mistakes), I am genuinely anticipating learning how to become a better teacher and how to gain and maintain the respect of my students.

For me this unit was a kind of review of the parts of speech. There wasn't much in here that I didn't know already, but it was a good refresher. One thing I had forgotten about was countable and uncountable nouns, and what constitutes each. I also had never studied where in the sentence an adverb should go; I have always just gone by my gut feeling on this one. It was good to learn some concrete rules: Adverbs come after the object of a transitive verb, after an intransitive verb, and adverbs of frequency come between the subject and verb or auxiliary verb and verb. It's good to have some rules like this, because when I will be teaching, by students won't be able to "go by their guts"" ? they will need rules to follow."

Parts of speech should be such a simple topic but after
working through this unit I am reminded of the complexity of the English language. Grammar is very important but the English language has a complex structure and many, many irregular forms. I am reminded of how difficult it must be for foreign students, especially adults, to learn the English language!

This unit was very helpful and refreshing for me. This unit touched various important parts of the English grammar such as nouns, adjectives, articles, verbs, adverbs, gerunds, pronouns, propositions and conjunctions. All of these are very important in teaching and learning the English language. With out grammar there would be no fundamental to any language. I feel refreshed on my grammar, the rules, dos and don'ts. And thus feel more prepared.
