This unit is really interesting and has taught me things I wasn't sure about. It describes teachers and learners (also their levels, mentioning what a student is able to produce according to each stage of learning).
It's also interesting how students can be motivated considering their ages and level of knowledge. The common

There are several differences in the types of learners you can teach. Not only will age be an important part of understanding and effectively teaching your learner, but their ability level is also important. In order to be a great teacher, I need to be aware of how much time I am using per teacher role, as well as be aware of my students. I have learned, on the basic level, what makes a good teacher. I have also learned what makes a good learner and how a good teacher could possibly influence everyone to bring qualities that would promote good learning. Students react in a learning environment differently if they are older or younger. Both young and old have their qualities of better learners and how different ages might inhibit a learners success at the respective topic. I learned about the different qualities and roles a teacher must possess to be a good teacher. However, no one is perfect and I would imagine that like students, teachers have strengths in some areas and weaknesses in others.

I have learnt a lot from this first unit especially on the relationships between the students and the teacher. I had forgotten how much a teacher can be influential and a great source of motivation to those willing to learn and how to bring out excitement even in those less motivated. I also learnt much about the different types of roles the teacher must take on and when to switch from one role to the next. I found this introductory course interesting as it gives the perspective of an outsider looking in to the profession. As a teacher in Korea, I have found myself in every role described in the beginning sections. I have been the assessor, the model, the prompter, and the manager at different times and with differently skilled students. I have found the students lose interest if I take too much control. I have witnessed their excitement and enthusiasm suffer or grow when I was either not gentle enough or just patient enough in the role of prompter. I am excited to move forward to later units in the hope that my able to assess these situations correctly will increase in frequency.

The content for the first unit set a good frame
work to work off from; it reinforced what I had already learned from teacher's college but also included more information that about teaching English as a second language that placements and schools did not focus on as much. The first unit was an introduction to the teaching and learning activity in general. The sections were about various topics including the different types of teaching behavior, the types of students, their language levels and motivation. The chapter also gave insight to how a teacher should act in the classroom in order to be more efficient and inspiring. I have learned that it is going to take patience because each student is at a different level. There are times a teacher has to lead the activity but there are other times when the teacher has to step back and observe the students participate. It is going to take enthusiasm and motivation from within to motivate each student.

During this lesson, we learned about how our students look at us, their emotions, and aspects we should consider to make sure they can enjoy and learn in a classroom. First, we need to be aware that self-
assessment is critical. We all have different backgrounds, and ideas, but it is important to analyze our approach and what our students might think about us. When I think about kindness and patience, I visualize a comfortable class environment. Our students are interested in learning, and not being understanding towards their learning needs is not going to help him/her or the rest of the class.
Second, our approach has a key role to play when teaching. We cannot expect that our students are going to learn a new language if the class is focused on us, and we do not involve our students in the learning and teaching process. Sometimes we would like them to talk and present a topic if we think they can do it, on the other hand, we might need to control the class. The topics are going to give us a hint of what the best option is regarding if an oral practice is needed, or if it is just a matter of sending a student to the board to complete the practice. Should I make a mistake to see if the can correct me? Have we practiced enough the ending sound for regular verbs? There are too many things taking place in a class room.
Third, even though grading might be subjective, it is good to know what
Type of students we have and recognize their language limitations. This will also help us to define what we want to do in our classes and understand the student's goals. The possibilities of finding a student we can empathize with are real, and we should put ourselves in our students' shoes; learning a second language is not easy, and it requires time, so it is extremely necessary to make sure our integration to the class in flexible.
We should understand our students, and share our knowledge.
I think that this unit covers many basic characteristics of teachers and students that we do not want to forget, and it teaches us to locate in the ESL world, where we are, and where we could find our students.",

This unit helped give me a review of the basics of English grammar that will be helpful in teaching. This unit covers basic grammar and its rules. The unit includes information on nouns, verbs, adjectives, adverbs, articles, gerunds, pronouns, prepositions and conjunctions. After completing this unit, the student should understand most basic grammar rules, including the difference between definite and indefinite articles, transitive and intransitive adjectives, personal pronouns, possessive pronouns, possessive adjectives, etc. The parts of speech can be summarized by the subject, verb, object, articles, noun and preposition.
Nouns can be divided in : Common Nouns, Proper nouns, Compound nouns, abstract nouns and collective nouns.
Nouns can be countable and uncountable. We use "much"" and ""a little"" with uncountable nouns like music
