Unit 1 also described the wide range of students found in EFL classrooms in regards to age and each age group's typical strengths and weaknesses. The different levels of English language ability were broken down into 6 categories and common motivations as to why students are learning English were addressed. From the things I've learned in this unit, I feel I am more able to adjust my teaching style appropriately to the age group and language level I am teaching as well as become more sensitive to my students' needs.

From this unit i can identify good teacher qualities within myself and what qualities i would need to work on to become a better English teacher. i understand the importance of the teacher roles as every class and student is different so I think it's very important to establish which role is more suitable and being able to make that good judgement and also feel comfortable and confident when in that certain role. I also think its very important to be able to categorise individual students within the language levels so I am not spoon feeding them if they are advanced or giving them questions which are they are not able to answer leaving the students feeling confused, so an understanding of this language level will come in very handy and become easier to identify and group over time.

This unit describes basic parts of speech and their functions in sentences. It has helped me to understand the forms and manner in which words may be used appropriately. It is important to understand how certain words function because otherwise the attempt to form and understand sentences will fail. Many asian schools consider grammar to be very important. Not surprisingly, this means vital in learn another language, especially if you want to know the reason behind how the language works. However, I personally think that the grammar comes naturally when one reads more and communicates more in their second language. The section was categorized in a form that was easily understood. The description of the sections were true to the meaning of the grammar. This section is a good refresher for an English speaker but could be confusing for students. This section should be thought in a fun and practical way.

This unit detailed all the parts of speech. As a teacher, it?s important to know technical terms to be able to demonstrate knowledge to your students so they can trust that you know the material you are teaching. I studied this topic extensively in university as part of my Technical Communication degree, so I didn?t learn much from this lesson, but it was a nice review after not having looked at the material for such a long time.

This unit is a great unit for refreshing ones memory on the basics of grammar and functions of each word in a sentence. I am very confident in grammar, but was surprised at how much I have forgotten. This unit has really helped me remember the basics of grammar and why we use words the way we do. This unite discussed the mechanics if grammar, word placement in a sentence and parts of speech. I have to say I relearned parts of speech, as a math and science teacher, I do not necessarily teach it on a day to day basis. This was a very good refresher on parts of speech.

I have not studied in a few years, and this unit was very informative. They're sections of this unit that i had to read a few times, just to make the information stick. working through the unit i was very comfortable when dealing with nouns,verbs, and adjectives. The most informative section for me in this unit was adverbs, but after going through the reading material i now understand where an when to use them. I am now able to dissect a sentence, and i understand the placement of words in a basic sentence structure.

A brief overview of this unit included the parts of speech: nouns, verbs, articles, pronouns, adverbs, adjectives, conjunctions, gerunds, prepositions. I learned further about transitive and intransitive verbs. I also had a refresher about gerunds, definite and indefinite articles. I know that the parts of speech can be even more detailed and engrossed but feel like this unit summed them up simply.
