In this unit, I learned that when a new language is taught, the teacher needs to make sure the students need to understand its meaning, understand how it's constructed, and be able to practise and produce it. The main aspects of a new language is its grammar, vocabulary, and functions, teaching one without the other would not be effective and therefore the teacher would have to teach the new language in a balanced and manageable way. Usually, the typical type of lesson for teaching vocabulary would be the 'straight arrow' ESA lesson, the ESA patchwork lesson for teaching grammar, and the ESA boomerang ESA lesson for teaching functions. Though the methodologies used are suggested, they should not be strictly followed, the teacher should be able to assess and consider which is needed when.
