Unit 1 was about the teachers and the learners. We learned about what makes a good teacher and the different roles of the teacher can take on when teaching. For learners, we learned what makes a good learner and the differences in ages for learners. We also learned the many factors in the learning experiences and how culture and their first language plays role in learning a language. We were then introduced to the distinctions between different levels of ability in the English language and the many different motivations a student might have for attending a English class. I have learned so much from this unit. I learned more about the different roles a teacher has and how each role helps a student to improve. I also learned what teachers need to be careful of when taking on a certain role.
