Verb tenses and forms are something that can be difficult to grasp for my students as their native language, Japanese, has tenses and forms that are quite different from English. Conjugation is another difficult point for them because the verb in Japanese does not change depending on whether it is in first, second, or third person. Even as a native English speaker I would usually have to double check a book before explaining some of the nuances between the different present tenses in English. In tenses such as Present Perfect which contain a Past Participle it can be especially confusing for students to understand that the verb is in the present tense. This unit has been a much needed refresher on present tenses so I now feel that I will be able to explain them to my students more clearly.
