This unit breaks down the present tense into its four forms: present simple, present continuous, present prefect, and present perfect continuous. By focusing on each of these forms one by one, the unit identifies the appropriate helping verbs, spelling changes, and word order, as needed, for the formulation of each of these means of expressing the present tense. Further, the unit offers rules and examples for when to use each form and what mistakes English learners are most likely to make when learning these forms. I learned from this unit the formal names of these categories within the present tense and how to break down the complexity of English tenses into manageable pieces for my students. I also learned helpful classroom activities that will reinforce the comprehension of these forms.
