This unit clearly explained the various forms, structures, uses, and common mistakes associated with the present tense. More specifically, it elaborated upon the present simple, present continuous, present perfect, and present perfect continuous tenses and how they are formed and applied in everyday language. The chapter clearly explained, for instance, that the present perfect tense is generally used for events or actions that took place at unspecific time within the past yet which have an effect on the present. Additionally, the unit also touched upon mistakes that students typically make while attempting to use the various present tenses, a prime example of this being the mixing or misuse of the aux. verbs of 'have' or 'be'in the present continuous and the present perfect respectively.
