In this unit I learned about evaluating students. Some informal ways of evaluating are through tutorials and through evaluation by students. Tests are often a more formal way of evaluating. Tests are used for a variety of reasons. Placement tests help determine how to group students together into classes. They often start with simple questions and become progressively more complex. Diagnostic tests are similar in function and are also given at the beginning of a class. They are useful for determining what students already know. Progress tests tell what students have learned and where they need to do work. Practice tests provide a way to prepare for external exams. External exams are standardized exams that are used by universities for admission purposes and by businesses for hiring.
