In this unit we were introduced to various methods for teaching pronunciation. This included the basics on stress and intonation and how to illustrate them to students, as well as the far more complicated but potentially useful International Phonetic Alphabet. The sample class video explained how a typical class using it would go, and served to show that it doesn't need to be a difficult experience for both the student as well as the teacher. With first hand experience of learning another language I can remember my Japanese teacher attempting and failing to engage us with the IPA, while my current Korean teacher is gradually using it in order to help with the preponderance of vowel sounds in Korean, it truly is a tool that depends on the teacher if it works in a classroom setting or not.
