Unit one was mostly about what make an effective teacher and the various roles that the teacher must integrate while leading a classroom. The unit also introduced concepts of what makes a good learner, the stages of English language learners and some problems they might run into. Many times \"leading\" the classroom really means facilitating activities for student based learning and acting as a resource for guidance. I learned a lot from this first unit and it cleared up how a good teacher is supposed to engage with their students. A good teacher \"really cares about teaching, but cares even more about the learning of the students.\" That quote stuck out to me and really proves to be an appropriate standard of not only teaching English as a foreign language, but any teacher, teaching any age.
