This unit covered the various teaching themes a teacher can incorporate into their class of English for Young Learners. This includes the usage of games, stories, songs, chants and music, arts and crafts, seasonal activities, drama and movement etc. I have learnt that songs, chants and music are an effective memorisation method especially for teaching younger age groups. All age groups can benefit from using songs to work on pronunciation, stress, intonation and rhythm and make great introductions to lessons as well. This unit has also showed me the different types of games currently used in an EFL classroom and which games are more suitable for certain teaching points. It is interesting and helpful to note that the teaching point should be established first before choosing the game to execute it!
