This unit was on teaching pronunciation and phonology. I learned a lot in this unit and probably will continue to refer back to it and study it. I have now learned how to read the phonetic alphabet, as well as where the places of articulation are located. I find it very fascinating to study this because it will definitely be useful when teaching pronunciation in class. It is easy as a teacher to just repeat a word with a student over and over until they say it correctly. I think the reason is because that is how we learned to speak. However, showing students where the sound comes from through diagrams or reading the phonetic pronunciation can make learning faster and easier. I also learned a lot about how intonation impacts the meaning of a sentence, and how important it is then to teach that well.
