I found this section very clear and concise. Although testing is a somewhat emotive term, it seems clear that EVALUATION is a requirement in order to target next steps in the learning process and ensure progress is being made towards course aims. Thus it seems that some form some form of TESTING must be undertaken. Whilst progress testing is important to evaluate comprehension of lesson content, it is my personal view that some form of external testing / benchmarking is required to confirm the 'value' of delivered course in objective and overall / external terms. In truth evaluation is generally recognised as a good thing, except perhaps when applied to 'YOU'. Thus perhaps the teacher who is uncomfortable with evaluation and testing is actually uncomfortable with there own skills and capabilities.
