This unit demonstrates how important it is to understand the nuances of the present tenses. These four tenses want to explain something about the present but giving different connotations to it. Although the formulas to learn these tenses might look easy, the students will find it difficult and tricky to fully understand them. They will have to know the basic rules and learn by heart all the irregular verbs. After that, it is important to give them as much time as possible to practice during the activate phase. This will also give the chance to the teacher to listen and note if there are any frequent mistakes or errors. I find that comparing the verb tenses? usage is one of the most effective exercises. It makes the students acquire the knowledge by trying to explain themselves more in detail.
