In this unit I have learned the importance of productive skills and how speaking and writing work in general. I now know that there are two types of activities the one is accuracy activities which normally will be used in the study phase and then there is the fluency activities which will be used in the activate phase. We all know that some students are reluctant to speak in the classroom and some of the reasons for this would be cultural and sometimes a lack of confidence or a fear of making mistakes. I now know that we can encourage interaction by using a few different techniques. A few ways that we can achieve this is by careful planning and changing of the classroom dynamics. We can also make speaking activities more purposeful and use pair or group work to encourage interaction between students.
