This unit talked about the receptive skills; reading and listening. The unit covered why we read and listen and the different ways in which we listen. The two ways in which we read and listen or for a purpose, or for entertainment. Depending on how much we want to retain and how much time we have, we employ the use of skimming, scanning, looking for details, and deductions. The unit then lays out an example listening lesson to in the straight arrow ESA style to show what a listening lesson might look like. The lesson also provides several sample work sheets that I could potentially use in the future, which would be helpful for the EPIC program. It was also good to have the importance of learning and listening broken down for me and to be given a sample lesson that I could pull from when teaching.
