Unit 13 covered course books and lesson material. The unit started by covering authentic and created material. Authentic materials are thing which were not created by the teacher, they can consist of anything that a native speaker would hear or read. e.g. programs, magazines, newspapers, songs, poems, brochures, menus, films on video. Created material is usually designed by the teacher to replace or supplement materials form a course book. Both come with their advantages and disadvantages. There was a sample crossword, word search, flash cards, picture stories and role-play cards as examples in the unit. Finally the unit covered course books and what usually comes with a course book. The unit looked at the advantages and disadvantages of the course books as well as the best use for the course book.
