The focus in Unit 18, was on modal auxiliary verbs, passive voice and phrasal verbs. I found modal auxiliary verbs to be the easiest - they are used before other verbs to add meaning to the main verb. Modal auxiliary verbs can be used to express ideas such as obligations, probabilities, abilities and advice among other things. I found the table with uses of modals very helpful. Passive voice is when the object of an active verb becomes the subject of the passive verb. As with modals, the unit succeeded in explaining passive voice by way of examples. Phrasal verbs I found hardest and needed to focus more time on. The unit set it our very briefly, but after further reading outside of the unit, I understood the content of the unit better. Phrasal verbs basically consist of a verb plus one or two particles.
