It is really vital to establishment rapport with the students for the first lessons. Such classes can fall into two categories: new group that students do not know each other and existing group that students are already likely to know and familiar with EFL teaching. In the first lesson, we need to establish rapport between the students, find out the students' needs and their levels. We do not need to resort to the course book. Teachers can try to use some activities instead of using the course book in the first lesson. The teachers should use some warm-up activities like hangman, pictionary , tongue twisters and memory games. Teachers can deal with the problems of teaching different levels such as using different materials or using the same material with different tasks and pair stronger students with weaker ones. For the large classes, we can use worksheets or pair / group work, choral repetition or we can choose some group leaders. Students want to speak their native language but the teachers encourage students the use of English where appropriate. Also teachers should only respond to English. Some students in the class do not sem to want to talk or participate. Teachers can deal with the problem by using plenty of pair work and role play. Difficulties in listening is common problems for most students. Pre-teaching unknown vocabulary can be good idea to overcome the problem.
