This unit deals with evaluation and testing. There are a number of ways to assess a students language level. They are as follows; - Tutorials - Evaluation by the students - Tests It is often appropriate to give tests at different in a course- at the start the student maybe given; - Placement tests are given to enable teachers to place new students into the correct class according to theirnlanguage ability. - Progress tests is given periodically to guage what language has been remembered or acquired and zhat language has been forgotten. - Diagnostic tests are basically similar in content to placement tests and are sometimes more extensive. - Practice tests- this should follow the format and the structure of the external examination that they are being given in preparation for. General external examination- these are external examinations. They are as follows; - TOEFL - IELTS - TOEIC Cambridge ?ssessment ; this is the non-teaching department of the university of Cambridge responsible for a broad range assessments including the UK OCR examinations board, Cambridge ESOL and Cambridge international exams.
