In this Unit I learned how to deal with common problem situations that may occur in class. Every teacher is likely to experience different problems in his or her career. From being introduced to a new class to having to deal with different language levels over reluctant students, a teacher should always be aware of establishing a good rapport between himself and the class to keep down the chances of losing control. Knowing the students and their special needs can be very helpful in avoiding problems such as boredom or, on the other side, frustration in class. An experienced teacher will combine different techniques such as pairing stronger students with weaker ones or the distribution of different working material to overcome gaps. Besides different language levels, there are many other problems we have to be able to handle in our career. Keeping the use of native language to a minimum may also be a greater challenge, especially when teaching larger monolingual classes. In conclusion, a teacher should be able to combine the contents of all previous lessons to perform suitable lessons, regardless of whether the class consists of students with different language levels or individuals with problematic behavior. Our goal as a teacher of the English language should always be to encourage all different types of people to take a delight in learning and actively using a new language.
