The present tense seems to either focus on factual content and/or relating back to the present somehow. A few examples of how that is is that 1) the grammar relates to habits or routines in someone's life, as in the present simple. 2) it can state things about completed actions from the past that are carried out in an unfinished time period at the present time of talking; the present perfect. 3) present tense stories can include background events, like with the present continuous. 4) when talking about something beginning in the past and is still still going on currently at the time of speaking (can't tell if it will or won't continue). This is for the present perfect. 5) present perfect continuous- communicates an ongoing and incomplete task, when subject wants to explain how long it has continued. It is interesting how there are many different ways how things, activities and events can be linked to the present. The subject could be in the present and the activity in the past and vice versa, like, \"I am exhausted because I have been working outside all evening,\" and, she is usually shopping at this time.\" Both subject and object may be in the present as well, like, \"I am singing.\" These tenses uses affirmative, which are like \"yes\" sentences, negative, which I relate to \"no\" sounding sentences, and question form, which to me is asking or wondering about something.
