Parts of speech are an integral part of any language because they are the foundations on which every language is formed. English like all languages has different parts of speech which are used by people all over the world to make communication possible. Each of the different parts of speech plays an important role to keep the language meaningful and understandable. Without nouns, there would be no names for anything or anyone. Imagine how hard that would be, referring to something as that thing and not mentioning it by name. There are adjectives and these help with describing nouns so we can know how different one noun is from another. We don't have to use a name every time we are referring to someone. Simple words like she or he can be used in the place of someone's name and yet carry the same meaning. These words are called pronouns as they are used instead of nouns. Verbs are action words and carry the meaning of an action done by something or someone. Adverbs describe the manner or sense in which an action is done. Preposition are used to show a relationship between a noun or pronoun, the action performed, when, how and where it is performed. There are other parts of speech like gerunds, conjunctions and articles which are as important as those explained above. So without parts of speech there cannot be a language because every language is formed by the different parts of speech.
