In this Unit I learned of the different types of teaching equipment that I can use in the class room. When using a regular white board, is important for me to plan in advance, the information that I will write on the board in order for me to place only the necessary information needed for the lesson. I learned that the use of visual aids is really important, since it holds the students attention and gets them involved in the class, for example, show pictures to my students of different types of clothes to elicit names for different pieces of clothing, or elicit names of colors. The use of computers in the class room should be kept to a minimum, in order for the students not to become too self centered, they need to be involved with the lesson and interact witn the teacher and classmates as much as possible. When using a DVD player, I should be careful of the material that I present , how long is the video I want to show?, as well, I need to check that the DVD & TV are working properly, before my class starts and have a back up plan ready. With recordings the same, I need to see how long is the audio recording that I want to present to my students and make sure that the CD player is working properly, as well, have a back up plan ready. I learned of the importance of resource books, they are great for supplementing a lesson from course books, and or to use in the class room in general.
