Teach English in XinghuA Zhen - Zhaoqing Shi
Wow, what a unit to start the day off! I have learned quite a lot when it comes to the advantages/disadvantages of teaching different types of groups. For instance, the Business English group of students will vary in their knowledge of the English language, but many of them will have motivation to learn the language because it will help them with their employment and their future employment gains. Furthermore, business students will often be in need of an analysis in order to determine their individual needs, as well as to provide for the teacher the understanding of how to find a common ground and try to provide teaching that will at least meat the general needs of the business group of learners. Seeing the difference between monolingual and multilingual groups of students also seems to be encouraging considering that I will be teaching monolingual students in Bolívia. The monolingual group of students will more easily want to use L1 as a means of better cutting the amount of time down necessary to learn the language goals for the teaching session; however, teachers are encouraged to make it known to them that the use of L1 is prohibited. Furthermore, monolingual students will have resources available for the teacher to use as a means of sparking interest in the students and also as a means of better facilitating each lesson - things like culture, mannerisms, and/or general interests.
