This unit reviewed lesson planning, using materials and managing classes. All essentials to teaching children English. When planning our lessons we can include both authentic and non authentic materials. We need to think about how we are going to present the material and demonstrate what is expected of the students so that they can know what to do. We also need to check for understanding before leaving kids to do their own work, by asking specific questions instead of just the general, \"do you understand?\". It also discussed how to best use assigned coursebooks. You can omit, supplement, replace and adapt lessons in order to best meet your students needs. This unit also discussed lesson planning and the importance of a good plan. A plan should be well thought out and anticipating both student and teacher problems so that the lesson will run smoothly. The plan will help keep the lesson moving in the right direction, and it will also act as a record of what has been taught It also can be used by substitute if you are unable to teach that day. We also covered classroom management in this unit. Knowing students names, using gestures and eye contact, being authentic and honest and fair, and considering grouping of students are some ways to help with behavior management in the classroom. This unit also gave several websites that can be used for helpful materials when planning lessons.
