Teach English in Pingfeng Zhen - Zhaoqing Shi
In this unit, \"troubleshooting\" is covered which basically means how a teacher needs to adjust to specific groups and what activities can be used to help get things running smoothly. Each group will be different and may more may not have a background with each other. There are advantages to both. For example, a group that has already been having class together is good in the way that the students already know each other and are most likely already comfortable with each other. Another example is when the students don't know each other, and come from all different backgrounds and cultures, English is the only common language and will force the students to use more English. A teacher can use a variety of activities to build rapport and provide opportunities for students to introduce themselves to each other. For example, a \"pass the ball\" activity, where the student holding the ball answers the question, and then passes it to someone else is a great beginning activity for students because it is physically involving, and provides the students opportunities to speak in front of the whole class. Since some students can be shy at first, a specific group of students like this may benefit more from a questionnaire or survey activity. Using warmer activities are great ways to start class each time to get the students thinking and involved in a fun way such as playing \"hang man\" or \"pictionary\".
