I found it very useful to see the role and the personality of a good teacher broken down into detail. I noticed that being a teacher and performing the role of teacher is complex in some ways, and quite demanding. Much is required from a teacher in terms of their innate personality traits as well as their skill set. In particular it seems that the ability to be sensitive, discerning and responsive to the needs of the students is of paramount importance if the teacher wants to provoke willingness, enthusiasm and interest from the students. The symbiosis of being aware of the students needs and the teacher's own teaching style is dynamic and flexible, and the skills of organisation, planning, classroom management and monitoring seem to be invaluable to a good teacher. It also struck me that the basic requirement of loving teaching and being kind and patient seems to go without saying - but in my experience some teachers lack that, and the results are visible in their students. It was interesting to see the breakdown of the various categories of learners and how many things influence what kind of learner they will be. The key seems to be motivation and willingness and in my opinion if a teacher can constantly stoke the fires of willingness and even push it towards curiosity and enthusiasm then no matter the age of the learner or their level of English proficiency it will bring out the best in them.
