Teach English in JinzhuAng Zhen - Zhaoqing Shi
This unit breaks down English starting from the basic structures of it. Sentences are broken down into parts of speech which are nouns, which are people, places or things and adjectives which are used to describe nouns. There are also articles which are broken down into definite and indefinite articles they help you refer to multiple people or a single person. Verbs are also a part of speech and they are an action and there is also adverbs which add and give more information about the verbs. Gerunds are also considered a part of speech and they are the ing form of a verb along with pronouns which are used in place of a noun. Prepositions and conjunctions can be important parts of speech because they show relationships between nouns and pronouns and they also join things. Every word of a sentence is a part of speech that helps complete and makes up the sentence. What I learned was that verbs are broken down into transitive verbs, intransitive verbs, and auxiliary verbs. As far as auxiliary verbs, there are only three which are do, have and be. What makes a verb a transitive verb is when a verb is followed by an object and an intransitive verb is the opposite when the verb is not followed by an object. I also learned that nouns are broken down into countable and non countable nouns. Non countable things are nouns that cannot be plural and countable things are things that can be counted.
