Conditionals are sentences that contains the \"if\" clause, meaning that a condition has to be satisfied before the action or state in the main clause can be realised. There are five most common conditionals (specially when teaching English), and they are: 1. Zero conditional. It refers to actions that are irretutable. 2. first conditional. It refers to a situation in the future that is possible once the condition has been satisfied. 3. Second conditional. It communicates a hypothetical situation that is unlikely ever to be true. 4. Third conditional. It refers to a past hypothetical situation or action and the also hypothetical past consequence of that action. 5. Mixed conditional. A combined second and third conditional clause. It mixes a hypothetical past action or situation and the hypothetical present consequence of it. The teaching ideas for the conditionals won't vary much and the video class is very ilustrative in this section. Reported speech and direct speech is the second part of this unit, and it is about the changes that occur in the grammar of a sentence when it becomes indirect speech. Reported speech is not an easy grammar point to address. The potential for mistakes here are high due to the number of small changes that are made with the verbs, pronouns, questions, time expressions, etc. I had some problems myself getting the worksheet done. Hopefully the Test will be ok.
