Teach English in Gangping Zhen - Zhaoqing Shi
While teaching, teachers need to give feedback to the students and evaluate them. Teachers might think that testing the students is not necessary because it is possible to judge the students' abilities while they are learning, but usually, schools require teachers to examine their students' skills. There are three ways to identify the students English level: tutorial, evaluation by the students and tests. Tutorials can be held in a short period. Once a week the teacher can review the work done, give feedback to the students and clarify any doubts. The teacher might have an evaluation by the students, asking them if they think the course is too easy or too difficult, if the amount of grammar is enough, etc. There are different kinds of tests: placement tests, progress tests, diagnostic tests, practice tests and general external examination. Placement tests are applied to grade the student's level in a group; those tests are usually given before the beginning of a course. Progress tests evaluate the students' development. The form of the test may be a written examination or any activity that gives the teacher information about the growth of the students. Diagnostic tests show the learners' weaknesses. Practice tests are used to prepare students for a more important test. General external examinations are provided by companies and organizations. Those tests evaluate how proficient someone is in a language.
