Teach English in Xucheng Jiedaoban - Zhanjiang Shi
I have not had the opportunity to formally test and evaluate my students in my current capacity as an online English teacher. I expect that to change once I make the transition to teaching in a classroom. However, I am constantly gauging my students' proficiency and progress in the course material with every class. It is important to keep questions about the material open-ended, because there are always some students who profess to know the meaning of a word, phrase, or sentence and then they ask you later in the lesson what these terms or sentences mean. In terms of the initial placement of the students in either the Basic or Advanced level (we have a simple, two-tier system), I sometimes wonder how some of these students were screened and vetted. I have met some students who were clearly not cut out to handle the level of coursework that they are enrolled in. For most part, my students are generally in the level they belong and not out of their league. However, I do get a few students who do make me wonder how they got there in the first place. I've refrained from directly questioning my employer about this to avoid any misunderstandings, but I've dutifully reported every instance where I felt a student truly didn't belong in the course level they were enrolled in. I guess I'm not sure exactly who (the school? the student?) decides the placement, but I have no involvement in that process in my current teaching gig.
