Teach English in Qianshui Zhen - Zhanjiang Shi
This video unit presents two diverse teaching techniques; one that is effective and one that is ineffective. The first video portraits a teacher doing all the improper things that should not be done while teaching learners of English or any class for that matter. The following is a short list of some of the ineffectual methods/techniques used by the teacher in the first video: * a negative and impatient attitude * indifference to get to know the student by name * improper introduction of the subject matter * presumption that the student knew the class material * inability to engage the students * unorganized * the inability to reinforce and praise students for correct answers. The second video presented effective teaching techniques which included some of the following: * introduction of himself * acknowledged students names * introduced engage phase with a game of naming as many animals as possible with student in pairs. * gave actual physical demonstrations of movement of animals to help students understand the concept of can/can't. * used drilling in the study phase to help with comprehension and pronunciation * presented a drawing of what was expected of the students in the activate for overall feedback of the modal verbs presented in the class. These two extreme teaching methods were effective to help teachers become knowledgeable of an ESA lesson plan and to know what actually works to create a fun and productive class.
